What is a true friend, according to the Bible?

Proverbs 18.24 tells us, A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Think about that. A true friend is more than just someone to hang out with. They are a God-given treasure, someone who stands by you through thick and thin, just like family. In John 15.13, Jesus says, Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

This isn’t just about grand gestures. It’s about the everyday sacrifices, the little acts of love and kindness that build a strong, unbreakable bond. A true friend prays with you and for you. They lift you up when you’re down and celebrate your victories as if they were their own.
They inspire you to grow closer to God and become the best version of yourself.

Friendship, according to the Bible, is a beautiful blend of love, sacrifice, loyalty, and faith. It’s about being there for each other, no matter what life throws your way. So cherish your true friends. They are a divine gift, a reflection of God’s love in our lives. Drop an amen if you agree. Tag your true friend and let them know how much they mean to you.
