A dog with deformed front legs has undergone surgery in the UK after generous animal-lovers came forward with donations.
Sandy had been abandoned in Greece and faced a bleak future before he was discovered by Cambridge dog charity head Pat Clark.
With the help of Mr Clark and members of the public, hundreds of pounds were raised to send the ten month-old German Shepherd to Britain for an operation.
Surgeon Chaim Pilosof from Companion Care vets in Cambridge carried out the opening procedure to fix the animal’s legs, which were ‘wonky’ due to a nutritional problem, last week.
‘So far it has gone really well. At the moment he is on cage rest because he needs to rest a lot but he is already trying to do much more than we allow him to,’ the veterinarian said.
Mr Pilosof, who is operating on Sandy – who is also partially-sighted – for free, added the dog was now walking more comfortably despite him only having fixed his right leg.
